The Recon Trainer is light and well ventilated with good lateral support. While designed for CrossFit, it’s a solid multipurpose shoe and has an aggressive tread for athletic footwear – a plus for our purposes here. The stretch mesh upper is reinforced with HELCOR leather bindings for additional strength. Unlike many brightly festooned athletic shoes, 5.11 offers this trainer in several discreet and tactical colors. Two thumbs up.
