Membership

Where you buy the issues?

Issues of OFFGRID can be found online at the GunDigest Store, and in the magazine section of many big-box retailers, grocery stores, and bookstores. You can also access every issue on the OFFGRID App. If you’re having trouble finding physical copies locally, we’d encourage you to sign up for a Membership so you never miss an issue.

How long does it take to get the first print issue after Membership?

Print copies of OFFGRID are published bi-monthly, and the first issue to can take as long as 2 to 3 months depending on your location and order timing.

I signed up for Membership a month ago. When does the new issue drop?

The first issue received will be next issue published—not the current, most recent one.

Issue (XX) still hasn’t hit my local store, and the website only shows up to the previous one. Can I buy the most recent one through you somehow?

Individual print issues can be purchased online at the GunDigest Store as they become available. Digital copies can be purchased through the OFFGRID App as they become available.

I paid for a Membership that promised bonus material, but I didn’t receive a receipt, or the bonus material. What should I do?

To resolve this, first ensure that your payment method was charged. If you were charged for the Membership and material, but nothing was sent, please contact customer support:

Are there any discounts for veterans or first responders?

When does the next issue come out?

Right now, new issues of RECOIL OFFGRID are published bi-monthly on February, April, June, August, October and December.

Yes! We offer digital versions on a variety of platforms:

I tried to find the article on your website, but I can’t find it. That’s not the first time. Is there a trick?

Our website has undergone quite a bit of construction over the past few years. Especially to correct the SEARCH function. As of right now it should be working. If you’re on desktop, click the magnifying glass icon on the top menu bar. Or if you are on mobile, the search bar is located in the bottom of the sandwich menu. Where do I find the full article/video/infographic teased in a post (social media)?

On Instagram, links to the content teased in a post will be on the pages Stories (this is presently the only way to link directly on that platform. On Facebook, links to the content teased in a post will be in the first comment.

The product in your post was discontinued years ago… can I still buy it?

RECOIL OFFGRID has been around for over a decade, and as such, we occasionally post archival content that may no longer be relevant. It may also feature products and brands that no longer exist. Your best bet to find out if it is still available is a web, or online shopping platform search.

Blade Show: Balicomp – Do blades have to be sharp to compete?

Yes. Yes they do. All Balicomp blades are sharp. No trainers or dulled blades allowed.

Blade Show: Balicomp – What are the rules?

It is a timed event where you show off your balisong skills against other opponents who are trying to one-up your technique. You must use a sharp balisong. If your technique is deemed superior by the judges, you move on to the next round. If not, you are eliminated from the competition.

Blade Show: Balicomp – How is it judged?

There is a panel of judges that must vote on who wins the round. Majority vote wins. Sometimes the judges are previous Balicomp champions, sometimes there are guest knife celebs, sometimes it is a mix.

Blade Show: World Cutting Championships – What is the point, and what do you get?

Contestants must use a blade they created and run it through a series of cutting trials. The goal is to beat the opponent they are up against in time, and to demonstrate that the blade they made holds up better than their opponents. There are various prizes at the end.

Yes. Competitors must use a knife that they made, that meets the qualifying standards to compete.

How can I buy show gear if I’m not at a show?

At the moment, all OFFGRID patches are unavailable for purchase. They must be earned.

Bear defense – What do you hunt bears for?

People hunt for many different reasons. Some for sport, some for food. Hunting done legally also keeps the population control and is typically tracked through a tag and reporting system.
