Warmth to weight, nothing beats goose down, and Mountain Hardwear's 800-fill, hydrophobic treated down is some of the best. Their proprietary 7dx10d Ghost Whisperer fabric is specifically designed to prevent down and feathers from bleeding through. When it's all put together, the Ghost Whisperer comes in at 8 ounces, making it one of the lightest down jackets ever. Even better, it packs into one of its hand Pockets, letting you stow it in your pack with ease.

Performance:
For its size, the Ghost Whisperer packs the most warmth into the smallest package. The face fabric sheds moisture easily. The cuffs are insulated to the end, which helps when it's worn alone. If you're looking for a pure down jacket, this is the best one out there. Don't expect it to breathe quite as well as some of the synthetics though. Our only gripe after wearing it for a few weeks is the zipper. It tends to get caught in the storm flap if you're not paying attention when zipping it up.

Pros:
– Warmth to weight is simply amazing.
– Jacket compresses to practically nothing for stashing in a shell or pack pocket

Cons:
– Ghost Whisperer fabric is almost too light.
– Feathers don't poke through, but it isn't very abrasion resistant.
