This American-made knife is the successor to the popular Para Military 2, but scaled down by approximately 15 percent. The S30V blade is now just under 3 inches, and its shape altered for a steeper spine angle and stronger tip. The finely-textured G-10 handles and thumb ramp jimping offer good controllability. We're also fans of Spyderco's Compression Lock, which operates like a spine-mounted liner-lock, but is stronger and lighter. The Para 3 is a highly practical knife for urban EDC.

Pros:
– The Compression Lock allows the blade to be flicked open and shut one-handed, and reduces the risk of accidental self-inflicted injuries while closing the knife.
– Slender full-flat grind is excellent for slicing plastic packaging and other tough materials.
– Forefinger notch allows choking up on the blade for added precision.

Cons:
– The design is evolutionary, but not revolutionary. Some may see this as boring.
