Description

It’s nothing short of impressive that Fenix managed to squeeze 900 lumens, an 18650 battery, and a focusing optic into a light this size. It’s even more impressive that the company managed to do it at a $75 price point. The FD30 is a great size for every-day pocket carry, and its wide 76-degree floodlight angle is ideal for close-range use. We like that the focusing ring can be infinitely rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise, but it’s tight enough for quick one-handed adjustment. Unlike most other lights in this guide, the outer edges of the beam appear to be relatively static. So, regardless of the setting, you’ll always get a broad and smooth wash of light with either an even distribution throughout or a dense central hotspot.

Pros:
-It offers a highly versatile focal range in a package that’s compact enough to carry every day.
-Impressive maximum brightness and dazzling strobe
-Outstanding value for the money

Cons:
-Any setting between full spotlight and full floodlight produces a mild halo effect, with a dimmer spot in the center of the beam pattern.
-Accessing strobe mode is difficult; it requires pressing the tail switch then holding the side mode switch.
-Doesn’t include batteries
