Featuring traditional three-layer Gore-Tex, the A6 Axios waterproof shell is lightweight, comfortable, and supple for a hard-shell. It’s hip-length and fitted to be worn over other layers. Externally, there’s one chest pocket and a bicep pocket. Hand pockets are low and accessed internally (most naturally via the vent zipper). Cuffs have Velcro adjustments. The back hem is elastic, and the front hem has a drawstring adjustment. Multicam is available for an additional $52. Arms are a little longer than the others of its size, ensuring water doesn’t get into your gloves’ cuffs.

Pros: Well suited for tactical use. Zippered vents on either side open from the top or bottom, providing ventilation as well as easy access to a sidearm or other belt-mounted accessories. Waterproof zippers with nice rubbery pulls tuck into small hoods to keep out the rain. The hood adjusts easily with a single drawstring. Stitched in the United States, the craftsmanship is evident.
Cons: The hood doesn’t have any support, but due to the way it’s constructed it still held its shape fairly well in our testing. And it’s not cheap either.
