The smallest of the coolers that were evaluated, the Mule is by far the toughest. But that comes at a price, with thick walls packed with insulation resulting in a meager 32-quart capacity. The cam latches are tough and the wheels tucked in enough to avoid damage in a big tumble. The rope netting on the lid can be used to tie down extra items (with the eight tie-down points) but isn't really stretchy enough to hold a great deal. The hinge on the lid is phenomenal, as is the main telescoping handle.

The integrated bottle opener and large drain hole are welcome additions. Besides the 2.7-inch thick walls, the light color will reflect some heat, no doubt helping keep internal temperatures to a minimum.

Pros:
– High wheelbase
– Sturdy handle
– Integrated bottle opener
– Cargo net

Cons:
– Small capacity
– Cargo net interferes with the cupholders
– Bulky lock hole clearance
