Coleman is one of the big three in the triangle of inexpensive coolers (along with Rubbermaid and Igloo). Although the company claims the “fun will last longer” with the Xtreme 5, the pessimist in us suggests the wheels will crumble long before that happens.

The two-tone grays offset the orange in a very pleasing way, and the pull handle is remarkably well engineered and sturdy. The top features four deep cupholders and a nice flat surface on which to sit, though the lid is difficult to open with one hand (that can be a pro because it means it'll keep the cold in better). The drain hole is located on the back in between the wheels so draining is easy.

Pros:
– Scored highest in our 48-hour, ice-retention test
– Solid handles
– High wheel clearance
– Pleasing colors

Cons:
– Difficult-to-open friction lid
– Small drain hole
– Flimsy wheels
