“The Mountain Between Us” Movie Trailer

This Film Follows Two Strangers Surviving Together After Their Plane Crashes in the Mountains

Date:

Since you’re reading this site, you’ve probably already considered the possibility of surviving alone in a disaster scenario. You may also have considered how you’d approach a survival situation with your family or friends. But have you thought about how you’d handle surviving with a total stranger?

The challenges of being thrust into a life-and-death situation with a someone you just met are certainly worth thinking about. Would you be able to learn to work together, or would you struggle to cooperate? This is the theme of an upcoming movie from 20th Century Fox called The Mountain Between Us, coming October 6th, 2017.

Mountain Between Us movie survival plane crash mountain snow 3

The Mountain Between Us features two travelers — a surgeon named Ben (Idris Elba) and a journalist named Alex (Kate Winslet). The pair coincidentally end up on a small prop plane headed over the Rocky Mountains, but the plane crashes, leaving them stranded together on a barren mountainside.

Based on the trailer below, it appears that the duo faces many realistic struggles we’ve previously discussed here on OFFGRIDweb — knowing whether to stay put or head toward safety, staying warm in cold conditions, managing injuries, signaling for rescue, and even surviving a fall through thin ice. While the fictional story is sure to ratchet up the drama a bit, we’re interested to see how this survival film plays out.

Near, far, wherever you are… Uh, sorry, seeing Kate Winslet’s character plunge into icy water gives us flashbacks to some other movie.

Anyway, what do you think of The Mountain Between Us? Does it look promising to you, or do you think it’ll be yet another film packed with survival cliches? Let us know in the comments.
