Have you ever struck a match to start a fire, only to have it extinguish seconds before your tinder ignites? Now there’s an easy way to create matches that burn longer and stronger — so-called “super matches”. All it takes is a little paraffin wax, strike-anywhere matches, a tin, and some time.

Reddit /r/Bushcraft user n_e_wilderness put together a step-by-step photo walkthrough for paraffin-wax-coated “super matches”, which can add up to 5 minutes of extra burn time to ordinary strike-anywhere waterproof matches. The guide also includes a second tip: paraffin-coated jute firestarters.
