The light emitted from this unit is focused and bright — very bright. Its factory-rated throw range is more than 1,900 feet. In other words, its light will reach over a third of a mile. In high mode it can run for four hours, giving 1,200 lumens of output. It runs on your choice of disposable or rechargeable batteries. If you opt for rechargeables, the body of the SR52 includes a mini USB port for easier charging. It has four lighting modes, including a strobe mode. The modes can be programmed, although running through and programming its different modes can get a bit confusing. Once set to your preferences, however, its operation is straightforward. There's a lockout mode to keep the light from being inadvertently turned on, a handy feature when storing it.

Pros: Light reach, multiple battery options, side charging port

Cons: Programming can be confusing
