Pelican is well known for making formidable containers, and it makes sense for them to get into the high-end rolling cooler market. The ProGear Elite series is the only product in this line up that's bear resistant certified (by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee — we're serious, see IGBConline.org). The big side handles, easy-to-open double latch, and very strong main handle are rugged. The 2 inches of insulation on all six sides, despite its 45-quart size, kept its cool during our test.

The smooth wheels, however, will likely drag over sandy or slick terrain. It's lockable and has several tie-down points large enough for bungees or paracord.

Pros:
– Strong wheels
– Push-button latches
– Integrated bottle opener
– Interior can/bottle divots
– Fortified handle

Cons:
– No cup holders on top
– Lacks tire tread
– Even when latched, it leaks air
